Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 17D MAW beasts for the Gobbos

Wow its been 3 months since I posted in here. Oh well been busy running a nrw business. Anyway I found a few Bones minis that immediately screamed Maw beast to me so I bought 4 of them to make 2 regiments of maw beasts. They are about the size of a chariot so I dont see 2 on a regiment being a problem. Anyway here is th first wip

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 17c The walls are closing in.

Sorry for the delay, Ive spent the last month setting up a business to build tokens and terrain (mostly for KOW but will branch out) anyway on to the Gobbo's

Lots of room but it will fill up soon with gobbo's

I think I have 5 painted and I want to do at least the min of 31 so probably wont see much of this detail

So I want these as statues but I'm counting them in the model count so like 22 left to paint.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 17B Yellow is the New black.

Some progress with the Gobbos. These are test pieces and need some touch-ups but I'm pretty happy with the results.

The base is coming along. I need to do the walls of course but I like how it looks so far.

Its a pity most of it will be covered by Gobbos.

The minis are actually brighter IRL but the Yellow and purple make a good contrast.

I will probably do some freehand on the higher up characters.

I really like this guy. Very characterful. The orange goes nice as well.
The great thing about the camera is it doesn't lie.
I can see a few bits the need cleaning up that my own eyes just can't see.

So Im hoping to have about 35 or 40 Gobbos for this base. It represents a Legion of spears but it can stand in for rabble at a pinch. Feel free to leave a comment.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 17a Goblin Lair grows.

Finally got some progress done on the Goblin army.

I've near finished the base for the second sniff unit. Just a few deco's to go. Its a lot brighter than the other one so a few washes should dull it up nicely. Also the bricks in the wall are a lot bigger so I must have been in a rush to finish it.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 17 The Great Gaggle of Goblins

Around 10 years ago when GW released Skull pass I bought 3 box sets of it and then promptly put them away to collect dust. I think most of the dwarf bits went to a friend also never to see the light of day. It was about 3 months ago when I got them all out and bagged them up ready to sell at the next gaming convention. And then I played a game of KOW. I had an ogre army that I really loved and I have pretty much finished it now so as I was looking for a new project (Not like I don't have 4 other armies I could rebase) I decided to look at Goblins. I have a few units painted up for my orc army but when I pulled out all the Skull pass minis I had more than enough to start a complete new army. I may use the odd older model but I will mostly use the new ones I think.

I've had 3 games with the Gobbo's and they are rock hard. Legions are the key to the army IMO and I have tables two armies to date. (Got tabled once by efreets but we all know what I think of them)

Anyway I wanted a new theme and I want to show of the display base aspect of the game so I've come up with a dungeon theme for the Goblins.

Here is a pic of the first base which will be a regiment of Fleabag sniffs. I have about 30 spiders (A heap got used in a deamon army but 30 is a good start) and Im going to use them as mounts but I didn't like the forest goblins on them so I will use night goblin archers as the riders.

Anyway here is the first concept unit

There will eventually be 6 spiders in the unit.


There will be a torch on the wall. I tried to paint the base so it looks 

like the torch is lighting the room up.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 16G. The end is Nigh!!!

So I think I'm ready to stick a fork in this army. If I do a revisit I may add another horde of Shooters but apart from that I think I have enough stuff covered to give me a playable list.

I counted up all the bits and I have about 3500 points with no magic items. Not a bad start and about what I had with the other system that shall not be named.

At some point I will do a Video Army showcase to show all the guys.

Anyway here are some pics. They are a bit washed out as I am still getting use to the camera I have at home. I think its the lighting personally.

penitent Gobbos Carry a long dead hero to war. This is my other unit od Siege breakers.

Eddie suggested using this guy, a BSB on Chariot with Ensorcelled armour.
At first I was like Pffft, but it survived 3 rounds of attacks from Badger riders and a badger Hero
 in two separate games. And at 140 points he is a cheap inspiration. 

Red Goblin Scouts. The toy Ponies are really fast.

King Steven. King of all the red goblins. (In his mind anyway)

Next up will be my Gobbo Army. Tabled Eddie twice but Kort Tabled me so they can be beaten.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 16F Fire Support part 3. Ready Aim Fire!

So paint job is done for both these units. They aren't stuck on the bases yet as I need to transport them home and I will do some snow on the bases as well but here's a progress shot.

I want to put a red gobo with a keg on this base to signify the brew of Keen Eyedness.
Also there should be a chain or rope between the stakes which I need to do yet.

The Gobbo that goes with this is painted I just forgot to add him when I took the pic.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 16F Fire Support part 2. here comes the Boom

Boomers and done. Some of the green stuff looks a little rough now that I have under coated them but I'm still pretty happy with how they turned out. Here's some pics, you be the judge.

There are some leaking barrels at the back of the base with flammable stuff leaking out. It doesn't really show up in this pic.

Can you guess where the inspiration came for this guy.

GW ogres really aren't built for doing different posses.

This one is supposed to be leaning over for a big spurt.



They are undercoated now so paint should be applied tonite and more pics to follow.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 16F Fire Support part 1.

Still here slowly plugging away at my ogres. I have the Siege breaker horde 2 troops of red Gobbo scouts and a Horde of red goblins rebased. My Lord is done except for the head piece. I couldn't find anything I liked so I ordered some stuff from Horde o' bits. Not sure how long it will take for the bits to get to Oz.

Anyway here a few progress shots of the Shooter horde and a Regiment of Boomers. You warmachine players might guess where I got the idea from.

They are going to look like Jesters. I hope they turn out OK cause its not easy doing all the bits

Had a Warmachine tourney this month. Only 5 Players Turned up but it was still fun. I took the first Bye and ended up coming second by winning 1 game so that was fun. I think only Eddie and myself played KOW this month and as usual only Jay and Ado are playing X-Wing but we will have an X-Wing tourney in June so hopefully it will shake the table up a bit.

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 16E King Wretched the Lion Eater.

Not sold on the colour scheme and the heraldry is a bit Meh! but its done for now with a few minor things to redo.




The sword is supposed to be purple. Funny what the camera sees.

There is a shield but it blocks too much of the
 mini so I may attach it to the saddle somehow

I removed the Dragon helm Crest and will replace it with a lion Crest when I find or make one.

I have more done so as soon as I get a few pics I like I'll post them.

Updates for the Siege Breakers plus a few other units I'm rebasing

These guys were my scrap launchers. As per the story behind the army they are scrounged
Betonnian bits. A few war horses and a trebuchet strapped to a sleigh.

Both these units used to be one unit called the toy Knights. They are now standing in for two units of red Goblin Scouts.

More to come. I still need to flock and put snow on the bases. I have played a few games with the army and I still need to iron out the Army, but I have a ton of ogres so I'm not spoiled for choice. Feel free to drop  a comment or critisism.

Creativity Rising!

Army Ideas
We'd all jumped onto the kings of war bandwagon of late and as I've been digging through cupboards resurrecting my old Warhammer armies to use for kings I've been getting back the ole urge to convert or scratch build an army again. Something I've not been wanting to do for a long time due to certain Warhammer gripes and warmachine being more a assemble and play games rather than a hobby driver (for me anyway)

And the one army that suits this and has been getting my mind ticking about ideas for a army project is night stalkers.

Some people have been looking into using existing models that for the theme or name of the nightstalker units but I want to do something uniqe and mostly scratch built. I'm still getting together images and ideas but for now what about this (below image) for a paint scheme?

Ogrebanes Omnium Gatherum: Part 16C: Wretched gets a mount part 3.

He is really coming together now. I have a few minor things to do like a neck chain the reigns in his left hand and a few decorative bits but I like where this guy is going. Anyway have a look and let me know what you think.

Base is painted but I want more detail in it.

I have to thank eddie for putting me on the Siege breakers. All my Maneaters will be converted to these guys but I may need to make a lot more. They are rock hard at 6+ to wound.
