Warmachine Casters for Dummies Part 3

ALL THE VLADS

Thanks again to Ado he has come up with these for the Vlads and his fair lady.

Once again I haven't seen her in play. I think Ado may have used her one or twice but she doesn't get much play. I mean you have Vlad 3 and butcher 3 what else do you need.

This is the Prime version of Vlad. MATTMAN use to use him alot. I think he was his fave castor. With SnP he makes some of Khadors troops go off, especially the MOW with the chain saws.

I've seen Ado bring this guy out once or twice. From memory he is another troop caster. I know Ado loves the Kayazy so anything that can help them.

Ok lucky we dont have a big following cause I will give a small rant here and I wont have to worry about too much flak. Privateer Press cant sculpt horses. I think they need to get out and see what one looks like. The dimensions are so far our. Body's too long and legs at funny angles. This one isnt the worst but I wish they would get one scult right then use it across the board. Also who holds a lance that way. He will break his wrist first time he hits the field. And dont get me started on those stupid shoulder pads. Wanna kill Vlad ... ask him a question he doesnt know the answer to. He'll shrug and cut his head off.

That being said I havent seen this guy used but I can assume with the other Khador Cav he can be deadly.

Hopefully next time I can finish of Khador and move to a hordes faction like trolls or circle.

cheers

Ogrebane's Omnium-Gatherum Part 10a

Undercoated

So not much done so far. I have undercoated and washed them. I do a wash mainly so I can see details (Im old and my eyes are going) as well as mould lines. I had to clean a few bit on the Warp Wolf and the caster. I hate the way places they put the mold lines on some of these minis. On the Skin walkers the mould line runs down the haft of the halbert and over the rivets. I lost alot of detail during clean up. I also had to redo some of the skin walkers a green stuff apparently isnt good enough to glue parts together.

So heres a few of the pics so far.
Caster and Argusses.. Argussi.. whatever they are

The big Fella

The skin walkers
No painting tonite it BBQ and beer nite so check back sunday night for some updates.

Warmachine Casters for Dummies Part 2

KHADOR (Butcher) Special.

I had a bit of discussion on facebook and Ado decided to do up a few castors from Khador to get the ball rolling. So rather than the ones I said I was going to do I have done up the following. Remember that this is for training purposes and not for resale so please PP dont lock me in a dark room with the Butcher 1 2 or 3.

I will post these as pics atm but once I work out how to store them in PDF for download I'll convert them to that. So with out firther ado here are 5 Khador castors including all 3 butchers.

Prime Sorscha
I started withthis one when I first played Khador. I got a heap of assasinations in before they others worked out what I was doing. She is fun but squishy.

Prime Karchev
Can't say I've ever seen this guy in action. Ado has him but I haven't seen him played. I hear his tow ability is fun though. Darleck anyone.

This guy is fun to play with. I cant see him getting much play though. Not because he is no good, but his grown up versions are so much better (yes there are two more of him). I play him because he's fairly straight forward. Ax to the face game over. I've seen him go toe to toe with borka over 2 rounds and I took down a collossus with him in one turn (I was assasinated the next turn but thems the breaks)

I havent played with this guy but I've had him used against me in anger (is there any other way). The variable focus really doesnt bother this guy. If he gets near your caster you are dead.

As if the 2nd incarnation wasnt bad enough they unleash this guy (see what I did there). This guy is a monster. We played a tourney this month and my son took B3. He wiped the floor with everything thrown at him. I think I could even win a game playing him.

So Ado has a few more Khador casters written up so I might add them here or maybe do a download page later on. Please leave some feedback or comments I would like to use these cards to help me get my game on and they might just help a newb learn a bit about the game.

Cheers.

Ogrebane's Omnium-Gatherum Part 10

In order to help improve our painting skills and also to help out a mate, Ado and I decide to sponsor his WM "whose the boss" tourney by painting the first prize and lucky dip. We bought a couple of starter box sets and both of us were to paint one army. For this one my army will be first prize and Ado's will be lucky dip.

Ok so three weeks ago Ado threw down the challenge to get something going and well 2 weeks later I hadn’t responded cause basically I had nothing. Since then I’ve made a little progress so here is my first instalment.

CHALLENGE ACCEPTED

For this Project I’m going to be painting one of the armies from the Hordes 2 player box set. The reason for this is for first prize in Eddies Winter legends tourney, Ado will be painting up one of the Warmachine armies for the lucky dip. Ado and I sponsor the tourney, and rather than just hand out money we decided this would be a better option. So this will be a plog on the progress on this army.

I have selected the Circle army to paint and Ado has picked menoth. In hind sight it might have been better to do Khador and Legion as they are winter bases but no one said this has to be logical.

So basing wise I will go for jungle but I don’t want to go too complicated as someone will win this army and may wish to add to it. Also the colour scheme needs to be fairly simple so I’m going for a stone look so maybe greys and yellows with bone coloured weapons etc.

What you get in the box
You might notice I did a bit of mods on the skin walkers. I don’t like minis that are all the same so they are all individualised now. I also had to sculpt a tail because I lost the damn thing. I need to change my grey carpet to bright yellow or some thing.

A closer look at the caster and Argesi... Argeseses.. Argii Whatever
You can see the tail I had to sculpt here. Not the best but I had some time issues.

The big fella. SO much skin and fur also with taking digital pics I can notice mould lines I dont see with my old eyes. There is one runing down his right ear and over the snout.

Somehow after modding these guys I ended up with 3 lefties. Oh well they are all different now which is what I was going for.

So by tonite I will have these guys undercoated and washed and any cleanups that are needed so by tomorrow I should be into painting. Let me know what you thing about basing and colours in the down there.

Cheers

Warmachine Casters for Dummies Part 1

(Now with 40% more hordes)

For those of you that know me (well anyway) you see I struggle sometimes with rules, and my eyes will often glaze over when you start reading the stats of your unit. Now some of this is because I just don’t care that much I just want to roll dice and kill stuff, but some of this is that I think my memory is full and I just cant fit too much more stuff in without losing some of the old stuff. Like my kids names and birthdays.

For awhile now I have an idea to help myself and others who have a similar problem to make up a bunch of Castor/Warlock cards to help when it comes to picking the right army to beat your opponent's castor, or even how to build a list for your own castor.

So what I want is a brief description of the good, the bad and the ugly of each castor that will fit on something the size of a playing card.

What it will contain are things like the name and faction that’s a given, and then a brief of the feat if its needed (not all feats are earth shattering). Also a list of spells that will cause you grief and then the types of play and maybe army make up you can expect.

So here’s an example , and this is from me so its not accurate at all.

KHADOR:   PSorscha

Feat – Icy Gaze
All enemies in her control area and LOS are immobile unless they have immunity to cold.
Play style:Assassination and maybe objective spam if she takes a heap of troops.

What to expect: If your castor is squishy she will get close enough to charge your castor using wind rush, cast tempest to knock down stuff in her way of the castor then feat and freeze everything then game over for the enemy castor.

She supports troops well with fog of war but her stats aren’t great so she wont be assassinating Butcher or Borka.

She also has boundless charge for those extra long charges and Jack support.

Bad things: Her tactics wont work on stealth castors.

To get the ball rolling I would like to do 5 castors each time. So I'll pick a few easy ones.
PSorscha (she's already dressed) for Khador. PKreoss for Menoth. PStryker for Cygnar. PDeneghra for Cryx and last but not least lets try PVyros for the Ret

I dont care what format you put it in but a few comments would help. Maybe put Castor, feat and explaination. other spells and game style and maybe even army compositions. Also weaknesses if any.

Cheers all.
