Kooinda Gaming Klub Slow Growth League Tournie.

The tourney has been run and the results are in. From all that I have talked to a great time was had by all.

Lets start with a list of the contestants,

In alphabetical order

Adrian (Ado, Arobe) Roberts. Long time wargame player. Playing Mercs - Highborn Covenant
Ado's list was very tight with alot of shooting. Very hard to deal with as the shooters ignore stealth. Also with the mule his army packed a wallop from afar
Ashlynn D'Elyse
-Mule Heavy Jack

Gun mage unit
Gun Mage Officer
- Vanguard Light Jack

Allan (Allan who the f@#$ is Allan). A dark horse and relative new player. Playing cryx he is an unknown entity.
(Insert army list and description here)

Aris (Ogrebane) Tottle. Playing Pirates. Will he get his activations right.
Pic and army list here.

Courtney (Kortez) Tottle. Back with Cygnar. Gun mages anyone. Another army that packs a lot of heat from range. I really hate gun mages after this weekend.
Army list here

Eddy (Grobnut the flatulent) Crompton. The witch coven is a real Bitch (or bitches) to deal with. Slealth, Ghostly and all round schenanigans. Ive killed it before but I need more guys to do it.
Army list

Jay (Parfait) Neilson (or Nielson when you spell it wrong or which ever way it is.). A stunning looking army with clear ice bases. Will this compact army be able to deal with objectives and the other army.

Matt (Matt-man) Reid. Recently single he was up all night drinking and then decided to paint his army. Will his devil may care attitude pull him through or will he fall asleep during the second round. He doesn't matter He's Matt-man.

Nathan (Nickname) Foster. New to the game but picking it up quickly (why is it every one else seems to get it) Playing Ret will is out of the box play style see him grasp the top spot.

We were to kick of at 9 o'clock but as Matt-man was still painting so we eventually kicked of at 10 o'clock.

Playing 15 points 5 min rounds game time was 50 minutes +/- 6 minutes.

The first round was Destruction scenario. Match ups were as follows.
Kort vs Eddie. Matt-man vs Parfait. Foster vs Allen and Ado vs Aris.
This is a new scenario from Steamroller 2013. A 12x6 inch rectangle with 4 monoliths one on each corner. It really force you to come up at it. Of course shooting armies have a better time at it.

I didn't see the other games but my game against Ado ended with both our casters left alive and facing each other. Had I had another minute or so I may have taken his caster out as I had storm rager active on my cater so I would have had 5 focus. Ado's caster had hit me and left me with 3 hit points left. As I was about to start my turn 5 the game timer went off and Ado won by count back of 1 control point.

So winner for the rounds were Matt-man, Ado, Allan and Eddie.

Before round 2 started we did a painting vote. Secret ballet of your 2 fav armies to be counted at the end of the tourney.

Round 2 match ups
Eddie vs Matt, Ado vs Allan, Foster vs Jay and Aris vs Kort.
Scenario was Incursion. My least favourite as you have 3 flags with 1 disappearing after the first turn.

I hate shooty armys and Korts had a unit of gun mages. The wash-up was his Mages shooting my caster for a win.
Winners for round 2 are Kort (Caster Kill), Eddie (scenario), Ado (Caster kill turn 2, Gun mages again) and Foster (scenario).
So Eddie and Ado on 2 wins.

Lunch break. I do up a bbq and time for several beers. I think the flys got most of it. An hour later back to it.

Round 3 Scenario is Process of elimination.
It looks like this
Steamroller 2013 has really fixed alot of the scenarios and I must say they are all interesting but at 15 points Some times its hard to have all the tools to deal with the scenarios  I hit the obelisk 5 times with the commodore and it still had 5 points at the end of the game.

I played Jay and forced him to come forward. He tried for an assassination run and failed and my Jack went in and made mince meat of his caster.
Winners of round 3 were Me (Aris) caster kill, Ado(Caster kill), Foster (Scenerio), and Mattman (caster kill).

So Ado is on 3 wins. Matt, Foster and Eddie on 2 wins and everyone else (except Jay) has 1 win.

So if Eddie and Nathan can pull of a win in round 4 (Nathan will play Ado) then the field will be open to a 3 way (he he ) count back. Of course if Ado wins he will be the clear winner.

So round 4 and the scenario is rally point.
Even though I only have 1 win I an feeling pretty good about my army. Its fun to play and even though Im second last I don't think the results really show how well they have been playing.

The big match up is Ado and Nathan. Eddie gets and easy game against me (OK maybe I was a bit higher than second last after all) Kort vs Matt and Jay and Allan fight out last spot.

This scenario is interesting as you have 2 12 inch round objective and 2 obelixs. The obelixs can be used to dominate an objective or a caster can. With eddie have the coven this scenario is really good for him. I tried in vain to kill the obelix (Once again leaving it on 5 points) but in the end even though we were down to just our casters and me with the commodore, Eddie won by scenario. I just couldn't be in two places at once.

The other game of note was Ado's and Fosters. Both players were on 7 objective points and the game ended on a tie even with 3 count backs it was still a tie.

So we had 3 players on 3 wins with Ado, Eddie and Matt-man.

It took three count backs to give the overall win to Eddie.

We have 5 trophies for this tourney. Im going to run a best tropgy award for the end of the year and Im in with a good chance of wining as I made 3 or the 5 and painted all of them. So the winners for the day were
Eddie overall winner
Slayer (Each player pics a character out of their army as their champion and the one with the most boxes at the end of the tourney wins the slayer award) Matt-man won this with Sorshca. She had an amazing 93 wounds inflicted. Interestingly Ado used Sorshca playing the guitar as the award.
Assassin- The fastest caster kill. This one went to Ado for his round two kill of Allan's caster.

The Destroyer award is for the Army that kills the highest number of army points. This one went to Nathan.
We did a painting award this year. As you had to have a painted army to play we decided to reward the best one.

I'm pretty happy to say I won this. I don't think my painting was that solid as I'm not very inspired by the pirate models so I spent alot of time on the bases. I have to say though that there were at least 6 armies that could have won this as most guys did a great job on their armies.

Here's a pic of my army

We also introduced a re-roll coin (rules here >>> LINK <<<) Nathan had it as the lowest on the league table and Jay was given one as the last place. We don't have the actual one yet but I'll publish a pic when I get it.

Anyway I had a great time and I'm sure everyone else did. Alot of great games played. We will introduce the Fat controller award next time for a total of 6 awards as well as the coin for the last place.

So if your interested and in the Ipswich area drop me a line. We will be doing another tourney in June at 25 points and would welcome any new players.

Hopefully the other guys can pad this out a bit as well. I will update the league table tomorrow when I have time. I think there will be allot place changes.

Cheers
